Short Introduction

Research in the field of AI & Law

It is rare to find scholars with legal expertise who also have the other disciplinary expertise that the PI has. She is also globally connected, especially with Japan, a critical county with which to collaborate in this domain, given the role Japan plays in AI technology development, and the differences/similarities in regulatory approaches with the EU. All of this feeds to a novel and ground-breaking research agenda, showing courage in approaching scholarship in novel ways, ‘thinking outside of the box’. Furthermore, the PI has a track record of securing competitive and prestigious funding. All of this is against the odds: the applicant has declared several protected characteristics under EU equality law, including her gender, disability, and caring roles. Imagine what this applicant could do with the security and prestige of an ERC grant!

– ERC StG Reviewer after my interview

My career has followed an interdisciplinary and transnational arc that reflects intellectual curiosity and resilience. Facing structural and personal challenges has sharpened my ability to work across fields, develop original insights, and create international collaborations in different disciplines.

My track record of securing competitive funding, including MSCA, reflects a long-standing capacity to deliver research impact under constrained conditions. Unlike many whose paths were linear, mine reflects the demands of leadership in complex, real-world conditions, skills our institutions now urgently need.

As a legal scholar with deep interdisciplinary expertise in AI governance and comparative regulation, I bring a unique profile shaped by both academic rigor and lived experience. As noted by ERC reviewers, my work represents a rare intersection of legal, technical, and international perspectives. They specifically recognized the ground-breaking nature of my agenda and the resilience demonstrated in pursuing it.
